Virtual PEEAM Board Meeting
The first and largest virtual children’s education expo dedicated for 2-12 years old recently took place from the 1st till the 3rd of January 2021 with more than 150 learning centres participating as exhibitors at VEExpo, connecting parents with the educators of their choice. The virtual event was jointly organised by Private Education Entrepreneur Association Malaysia (PEEAM) and Xenodios Sdn Bhd.
As the first ever VEExpo organised, Xenodios Sdn Bhd has contributed their expertise in the system development and undertook 90% of the system development cost in support of VEExpo’s mission to help education businesses preserve their business continuity and regain footing.
Chairman of PEEAM, Dato Simon SC Lim said that parents are wrestling with difficult choices over sending their kids back to school as a result of this pandemic, and this has significantly affected the income of learning centres. VEExpo aims to provide a cost-effective virtual promotion platform for learning centres including solo education operators to reach out to parents and drive student enrolment and even embark on hybrid learning opportunities.
“I believe that digitisation of education should continue after the pandemic. All educational institutions’ digital infrastructure can be strengthened further to respond to students’ needs and allow them more access to education, as well as enhance teaching and learning quality. E-learning is now the new norm. As we gradually incorporate more digital learning in daily life, teachers, parents and students must learn to adapt and familiarise themselves with online methodology to venture beyond their comfort zone,” said Deputy Minister of Ministry of Education, Dato’ Dr Mah Hang Soon at the opening of VEExpo 2021.
“Online teaching and learning is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but it must be embraced at a time like this. I believe this latest trend will continue its upward trajectory post COVID-19, but it will come with difficulties. Be that as it may, we shall face future challenges together,” he added.
